The debate between CBSE schools,
ICSE schools and state board schools has been going on since an eternity
amongst the top schools in
India. Students and alums of each sector advocate the superiority of their
board. Many people say that it doesn’t matter what board one attends, all that
matters is the school, the principal and the teachers that one is fortunate
enough to have.
However, if we are to look very
objectively, CBSE is the best of both worlds. It is kind of the middle ground
when it comes the level of difficult of the syllabus it comes to. Generally,
the state board syllabus is considered to be easier than CBSE board, and in
turn, the CBSE board is easier than ICSE board.
This level of difficulty also
translates to board exams. In state board schools, the kind of expectation in
terms of answer papers is very rigid.
There is no expectation of innovative answers or out of the box questions.
On the other hand, when it comes
to CBSE board, the level of difficulty of syllabus is a bit high, but the exams
are quite simple. All that the examinators look for is whether or not you have
understood the basic concept. A lot of people appreciate this because they
advocate that in the end, that is all that matters - basic understanding of the
concepts.
When it comes to ICSE board, the
level of difficulty is pretty high. The syllabus is more in-depth than both the
other boards, and so are the exams. Not only are you expected to show your
understanding of concepts, but you also need to present in a really good way
and convince the examiner that your understanding of the topic is very good.
That is the only way to get more marks.
So if you are confused what is the
bandwidth of your child, it is recommended to send them to the best CBSE school that you can send them
too!
