If you make a list of international schools, you
will find quite a few of them were started back in the early 1920s to ensure
that expatriates and diplomats could get a “western” education for their
children while working in far-flung countries. However, since then, these
schools have been educating the kids of wealthy locals so that they may fit in
western colleges in the future, and get jobs in MNCs.
With the increased awareness and
the rise in disposable income among Indians, these schools have become
extremely popular. They are no longer restricted to just metro cities now: even
small towns have at least one international school!
The primary reason why parents
love international schools is that English is taught as a native language in
these schools. Students are taught the language with the use of phonetics, and
are encouraged to read books and write book reviews. They have teachers are
extremely well-versed in the language as well.
Parents always want the best for
their kids, hence, it is no surprise that they take so many efforts to ensure
that their kids get the best possible education. The efforts are not limited
simply to the financial aspect. Many such schools also expect parents to be on
a waitlist and sit for interviews to make sure that get the best education for
their children.
The current generation is going
to enter a global market. They need to be prepared to meet people from
different cultures, and have an understanding of how the global market works.
While there are obviously some
sub-par schools out there, the best
international schools prepare the students for a bright future and expose
them to all-round development so that they may achieve their full potential and
make their parents proud.
