Two Most Important Factors of Choosing a Preschool

A preschool is the start of the academic journey of your little ones. Learning is a process that should be no less fun than the anything else. Children between the ages 2 and 4 are introduced to academic basics here and get familiar with numbers and alphabets. This also helps your child develop social skills and even learn how to be independent while also sharing and adhering to the instructions. Before admitting your child in the best preprimary in India, introduce them to fun learning in a preschool. But, also make sure you pay attention to all the important factors before you pick the preschool that you think is perfectly suitable for your child.

School philosophy
One of the most important factors of choosing a preschool or a preschool franchise is the ideology with which it is established. For instance, the Montessori system is known for fostering independence in your child. While Waldorf focuses on child creativity, Reggio Emilia works on the natural development of your child. Bank Street has a child-centered educational approach, and the Scope method has personal goals set for the little ones. The locality of education systems can also determine the options you have and it’s best to look into them before instead of settling for what initially looks the most helpful for your child.

School environment
Firstly, it is extremely important that the child-teacher ratio is good enough to ensure that every child receives the needed attention. Also, keep a check of how well equipped the school is and that there are enough toys and play items for all the kids to have a fun time with. The environment of the school also includes the indoor and outdoor play space for kids, a security fence, and the surrounding. It is also ideal to know if the staff is trained in handling first aid situations and that the school pays attention to cleanliness as well.
So, before you choose a preschool for your little darling, pay a visit and get all the little details about it. Your child deserves the best.

Professional Schooling vs Home Schooling: A debate

Many people debate on what makes one the best school. A few people claim that home schooling trumps everything else. In this blog, let us look at a few main points in this debate of professional schooling vs home schooling.

Many people believe that nobody can do the job better than professionals, and this applies to education as well. Schools are quite proficient in the art of imparting education because they have the specialised resources for it, besides having the relevant experience. Experienced teachers know how to deal with different situations that may arise while dealing with students. Accordingly, they believe that parents might not be able to do as well with kids when it comes to home schooling.

The second major factor that makes the best school in Mumbai even better than the smartest parents is the fact that schools give exposure to kids and allow them to become social beings. They develop social intelligence and make important friendships for life. They get multiple role models and have an open mind. They also get a chance to learn about different cultures.

While online companies can develop the best resources to enable parents to educate the kids at home, nothing beats the kind of exposure that proper, decent schools can provide to students. Home schooling is good option for a) families which are located in remote parts of the world b) fill up the intervening periods when a family has to shift to a different location in the middle of the school year.
In the traditional scenario, home schooling is not a good option, irrespective of how smart and learned the parents might be. Some things are best left to professionals and parents should concentrate on giving the kids those things that schools are unable to provide: unconditional relationships, strong role models, and the idea of how family and relationships work.

Increased Use Of Technology Amongst Kids

Whether it is the CBSE, ICSE or CIE schools India houses, the common factor amongst all of them is the rampant usage of technology by both teachers and students in all aspects of teaching and learning. Most kids own at least one of the following:  iPads, iPhones or laptops.
We are slowing leaving the days when kids used their parents’ devices for a few hours a day behind us. Nowadays, kids have their own personal devices and are as addicted to these devices, if not more, than their elder counterparts.

Results? Kids these days spend rarely any time outside, playing physical games. There is a marked reduction in the nutrition and health levels. Far more kids need to wear glasses as compared to before due to the amount of time they spent glued to their screens.  Spending so much time on these gadgets doesn’t allow kids to develop offline friendships and they end up having social anxiety.
Of course, there are advantages to how tech savvy kids are. They are smarter, sharper and there are even kid coders! They are more exposed to the outside world through the use of Internet and often end up losing their innocence far earlier than they normally would.

For their  part, schools are trying to encourage physical sports amongst kids by making offscreen time compulsory. What we perceive to be a problem for working adults has also proven to be a problem amongst toddlers who are 5 year old. They are so addicted to their devices that detoxification is something that needs to be forced upon them.

Of course, there isn’t much even the best school or parents can do about this problem. Not exposing kids to these devices would mean keeping them from the things others kids their age would know intuitively. Not allowing an entire generation of kids to use electronic devices is not even feasible. The solution lies in developing a healthy balance amongst their online and offline time.

International Schools: Is The Hype Real?

Where Would You Rather Send Your Child To: An International School Or A Local One?
It wasn’t long ago when parents just chose to send their kids to nearest affordable school, rarely giving it a second thought. But times have changed, and how! There are waiting lists in good schools right from the nursery grade levels. Parents are willing to pay donations and sit in interviews just so that they can send their kids to a good school.

So the question is, are the international schools worth the hype?
International schools offer something that even the best CBSE school can’t offer: IB education. This certification is accepted worldwide, and hence, if you are planning to send your kids to pursue further studies abroad, nothing can be a better choice for them. It also exposes them to different cultures of the world and allows them to develop a more wholesome view of the world.

Is the expense worth everything that International schools have to offer? In most cases, yes.
Given how good internationals schools are still rare, those which are able to provide the best faculty and services can charge a premium for it, and rightfully so. A lot of money has been invested into research into what works and what doesn’t for kids, hence there is an expense involved in applying these finding into schools where they can benefit the kids. International schools often keep themselves abreast of the results of such research and applies the things which are practical in the respective country and city.

If you try to breakdown every single expense that the school might be occurring and then try to get an idea of how cost-efficient these schools are, that would be time wasted because a lot also depends on management.
Good management is about taking the right decisions and implementing them efficiently. We cannot expect these decisions to be taken magically: the experienced people behind these decisions have the right to demand a certain monetary value.

Choosing a school in India

Choosing the top school in the country for your kid can be a tough affair. There are a lot of factors that one must consider: the fees, distance from the school, the other families who send their kids to the school, and so on.

Hence, this blog will help you choose a school for your kid. Let’s begin!
If you are a working couple or a rich family, there is an entirely different set of options for you to choose from as compared to middle class families. International schools open up as an option if you can afford them. They give your kids better exposure to the remaining world through exchange programmes and allow them to learn foreign languages. They also don’t support rote learning and the teachers are trained to ask questions to the kids to enable them to learn.

However, given the right school, even a CBSE or ICSE school can turn out to be a good choice if it is one which has experience in the field of education. In fact, everything narrows down to the teachers and at the end of the day, even the student. Even parents, for that matter.

The locality in which the school is situated used to be a major factor several years ago. In fact, parents used to blindly choose the nearest school for their kid. However now most parents are happy to pay extra for transport if it ensures good schooling for their kids.

Even the best school India has to offer is bound to have some shortcomings. It is impossible to ascertain what a school may or may not bring out in your child, and whether or not the school was behind the success or the failure of your kid. At the end of the day, the results of choosing a good school will only be revealed several years later.
