Different Curriculum Makes A Difference

There is an evident increase seen in the number of international schools in India. Every state of the country has a set of international schools where the bar is really rising when it comes to quality of education. They are truly adopting top notch international standards of education and setting high benchmarks for other schools in India to follow. The best schools in Mumbai are adopting futuristic technology and innovative curriculums to educate children. Usually in earlier times, children used to be treated like cattle. They never used to be given individual attention. Whatever the teacher taught, all the children had to follow irrespective of their interests. The curriculum was same for all the children. Moreover, the number of children in a single class used to be obnoxiously more.

The teachers used to find it difficult to control such a huge mass of students and see to it that each student understood what he or she taught. The grasping capacity of each child is different and many students used to never understand anything, while the other few excelled. The best schools these days have limited number of students. They pay individual attention to students. The interest of each child is gauged and those interests are worked upon. The curriculums are built on those interests. So one can say different sets of students are offered different curriculums. Students who are interested in sport more are exposed to more of sporting activities. Their sport lectures are given more duration. Children who have an ear for music are offered more of music lectures. Students who are into dancing are offered more of dancing classes. Also in the usual education practice, children who are more into science are offered more of science lectures. In the best schools children who are more into literature are offered more of literature lessons. Also, children can choose what languages they want to learn. Mostly, children from top schools travel the world when they grow up into adults. Hence, the knowledge of foreign languages is an asset to them. In sport also, there are bifurcations. Children who love soccer more are exposed to soccer as much as possible. Children who love cricket more are allowed to play cricket for more time in the best schools of India. The best schools in India also have various foreign games like basketball, snooker, swimming and other sporting games. They are always loaded with sporting equipment for the same. They have separate space for swimming pools. They have special tennis lawns wherein children can play lawn tennis. Top schools have pool tables.

For all of this, the best schools have internationally trained coaches. They have top musicians to teach children music. Some children may like to play the guitar more than the drums. For such children top schools have the best guitarists for training purposes. Children who are into drumming are trained by the best drummers. Top international schools have inter-district competitions with other international schools. They have sports events and musical competitions. The competitions are even scaled to national and international levels. This brings out the true potential in children.

Increasing international schools in India

The number of international schools is increasing by the day, thereby heating up the competition in the education market. They are nudging each other off through intense creativity with regards to curriculums and technology used. The top schools in India are fighting it out to surface to the top. The better the school more the number of parents want to get their children into them. In earlier times parents used to enrol their children in whichever school was closer to their vicinity. They used to try to cut out travel time. This would also save on travel cost. There was a concept of municipal schools in earlier times. These schools were deemed as poor-quality schools with respect to quality standards. These schools used to have the local language as the language of learning. They were called vernacular medium schools. All the subjects were taught in the local language. People who could not afford to get their children into good schools would enrol their children in these municipal schools. These schools were run by the local government.

The teachers were not well trained. The classes had too many students and usually the classes were filled with cacophony. Before the advent of international schools, in earlier times at rural areas schools were just grounds without a shed. There were no sheds to protect the children and teachers from rain or heat. But still teachers and social workers used to teach children. Sometimes they would not even get paid. Slowly the condition of schools started improving. There were sheds made, then, slowly there were single floor buildings made and so on. But child labour was highly prevalent and parents preferred sending their children to earn money and support their family rather than sending them to school. Then the government thought of a master plan. They started offering free meals to students who attended school. This initiative saw a rise in the number of rural children attending schools.
The food actually lured a lot of school children as they were able to satiate their rumbling tummies. The government also imposed a law that child labour would be a punishable offence. Therein lot of small time organisations, hotels and tea vendors stopped employing children under the age of 15. This move made more students enter schools and study. Slowly even impoverished families started understanding the importance of education in building careers in the future. Illiterate parents started thinking that what they underwent, the hardship they undertook should not be undertaken by their children. They started getting their children into better schools.
