It goes without
saying that a country like India produces some of the finest minds in the
world. This is largely due to the fact that we as a people have placed great
stress on the importance of education. Like many other colonial nations, India
too had a lot of catching up to do and education was given importance. Which is
why we had state and centre level education boards set up soon after
independence. But in time a certain stagnation set in and a few generations of
children suffered as they had to deal with age old methods of teaching.
Thankfully,
things have changed in the past few decades. CIE
schools in India and IB schools have changed the face of
education completely. Students now have access to International level
curriculum that prioritizes holistic development over simple academics.
Students in the country finally have a chance to explore their full potential.
More importantly, it also gives parents more freedom to choose the right kind
of education for their kids. These schools also encourges children to learn how
to be global citizens. With the world having shrunk in the last two decades
thanks to the internet boom, this has become more important than ever. Also, these
international schools help children pursue higher education in foreign lands.
Boards like ICSE, IB and CIE have schools around the globe and this kind of
education is universally recognized.
But all of this
is just the tip of the iceberg that is the Indian education system. An
International level education has become the norm rather than the exception and
all the best
schools in India will offer you this sort of an experience and
learning. Schools are now moving beyond the curriculum and giving kids a unique
experience. STEM education is now being inculcated throughout a range of
schools in the country. Children from pre-primary to higher secondary are being
taught from a syllabus that focuses on these core schools. What’s more, many
schools have started leveraging AI and robotics to give kids a complete
learning experience. These tools not only help kids focus but also engages them
at a deeper level. Instead of shying away from technology, schools have now
realized the importance of talking to children in a language that they
understand.
Parents too have
started looking beyond the regular extra-curricular activities for their
children. More and more parents have started enrolling their children for a
number of different courses like entrepreneurial classes, hacking skills etc.
because they too have realized the importance of forward-thinking education
that does not simply seek to make children into industrial robots.
The real
challenge for a country like India however lies in the sheer number of students
out there. While it’s easy for a small fraction of the majority to get quality
education, efforts need to be focused on development of education at a macro
level. It’s only when the entire nation rises above the narrow-minded mentality
of the regressive learning techniques will we be able to say that education in
India has truly evolved.
